Apologies,
the humidity affected me. I mean Joseph's father, Samuel was with his brother Thomas, born c.1835. Apparently all born in Biddulph moor, up the hill above Biddulph and then part of Horton parish. There were some six Thomas's born there c.1835, one ending up in Gosport, Hampshire. There may be brothers Vernon and Nathan to these older Baileys.
As to Thomas and Rhoda Mayer, they are alive in 1901. No traces of this Thomas M. born near Walsall, in all census.
