Hello Vincent, I too am researching my Bayles/Bayless connections in Mississippi! My gggrandmother is Melinda J. Bayles who married Henry Palmer Pruitt. Melinda has a brother named John M. Bayles who at one time lived in Panola County, Miss. I have a letter dated 1859 that John wrote to his niece and nephew-in-law in which he speaks of the towns of Yanksville, Rabina and Yacking. His niece and nephew-in-law (my ggrandparents) also lived in Panola Co. for a time. One source tells me that Melinda was raised on a plantation in Miss. although I have yet to find any evidence to support that. Another source says that the Bayles/Bayless families came out of KY. Either way I have yet to discover the parents of John M. and Melinda Jane Bayles. Since Panola Co. is just north of the counties you mentioned, I'm wondering if these names are familiar to you. Thanks for any help you can provide!
