I am also now looking for information on this family. I have found Richard W. Bayles' Homestead record at Footnote. Richard served as a Corporal in the 4th Rgt., Co. K, IA Vet. Vols. Cavalry. After the Civil War he settled on land in Nebraska. As a veteran he was able to claim the land for a small price per the Homestead Act. He remained there, raised 10 children and died there in Harvard, NE, July 15, 1920. He is buried in the Harvard Cem. There is a photo of his grave at Find-A-Grave.

His father was also named Richard. I am interested in their ancestors.

Thanks!
