Deborah,

I have Wiley Daniel Bays listed as Amos' son. However, Wiley is the son of Mary "Polly" Vance. They had about 12 children. There seeems to be some discussion as to some of the children being other siblings children, but Wiley has not been in dispute, as far as I know. After Mary Vance Bays died, Amos Sr. remarried the Jordan widow, Sarah Prater Jprdan in 1853. They had 3 children: Amos, Henry and Amanda J. Amos Sr. was killed in 1858 by a simple minded young man who meant to play a prank on Amos by rolling a stone down the hill to spook his horse. The rock hit him in the head and killed him. Sarah is on the 1860 census with her 3 children. I have never found any of them on the 1870 census.

I have other siblings of Wiley's if you need them,

I don't know why he was in Lawrence County, Ohio but Amos Bays, Jr. was often crossing over to Ohio and Lawrence County. He is all over, Carter County, Morgan County, Johnson County, KY ang Clark county, Scotio County and Lawrence County, Ohio. Was it mining that they were searching for? Maybe my Amos just knew he had family there??? I just don't know why he was always moving around. Amos jr. was a shoemaker later on and was actually shot by another shoemaker as they quareled over the prices of shoe repairs. Amos (Jr.) died of those gunshot wounds a coupke of years after the shooting in 1920.
