I'm sorry, somehow I'd missed your question on the Salyer book (for a year and a half?).
Anyhow, the book I referenced is "The Salyer Family" by Elisabeth L.W. Salyer; privately published in 1982. Copies are (were?) available from the author in Nickelsville, VA. I haven't communicated with Elisabeth in at least 2 years, so I'm not sure of her current circumstance, or availability of the book.
Although I don't see any of your Bays's listed in a quick scan of the index; I do see mention (very brief) of an Elbert Garland Salyer, born November, 1893 to John M. Salyer and Biddie (nee Collins) his wife in Scott County, VA.
There is also mention of a Robert Salyer (b. Apr. 1882) and his brother William Salyer (b. Nov. 1883) sons of Henry C. Salyer and his wife Nancy (nee Castle), also in Scott County, VA. William and Robert are listed as cousins of Elbert Garland, previously mentioned.
These may or may not be your people. There's not much else on them, other than parents. I found this information on pages 272 and 273 of Elisabeth's book.
