Hi Karen,
Was your Edward Bawden 1809 the son of John Bawden 1770-1847 and Susanna Matthew 1775-?, their son William 1801-1852 (my family line)was also a Captain in the Lead Mines on the Isle of Man, maybe on William's death brother/cousin took over this position? just a thought.
My William was on the 1841 census in Cornwall, 1851 on the Isle of Man then died in Cornwall in 1852.
