Hello Listers, Thanks to Eliz Marcheschi who had a good eye for Cornish on a ship's list, and posted some I can identify: Name Age County Occupation Families and Children Bowden Thomas 45 Cornwall Farm Labourer (b. 1828 Camborne) Fanny 35 (b. 1839 Camborne) Richard 15 Trans to s/m (b. 1860 Camborne) Martha 13 Trans to s/w (aka Minnie) (b. 1861 Camborne) Thomas 11 (b. 1864 Camborne) John 8 (b. 1867 Camborne) This was Thomas BAWDEN b. about 1828 Camborne, CON, ENG; he had lots of brothers and sisters: Mary Reed BAWDEN 1823, Christopher BAWDEN 1824, Elizabeth BAWDEN 1826, then Thomas; Anne BAWDEN 1830, James BAWDEN 1832, Susanna 1834, Grace 1837, Tamasine 1840, Eliza 1842, Sally 1844, and Jane 1846. Their father was Christopher BAWDEN b. 1800 Camborne, m. Tamasine REED about 1823. His father was Christopher BAWDEN b. 1868 who married Anne EUDY b. about 1875 on 11 Mar 1792 in Illogan, CON, ENG. Here's what the 1871 Kindred Konnections site says: Parish CAMBORNE; District 14; Schedule 017 Position Marital Name in Family Status Age BAWDEN, FANNY Head M 32 BAWDEN, CR Son - 11 BAWDEN, MINNIE Daughter - 10 BAWDEN, THOS Son - 7 BAWDEN, JOHN Son - 4 More info on above names: Approximate Birth BAWDEN, FANNY HUSB ABROAD 1839 CAMBORNE, Cornwall BAWDEN, CR SCH 1860 CAMBORNE, Cornwall BAWDEN, MINNIE SCH 1861 CAMBORNE, Cornwall BAWDEN, THOS SCH 1864 CAMBORNE, Cornwall BAWDEN, JOHN - 1867 CAMBORNE, Cornwall I had the son Thomas BAWDEN above marrying and living in Camborne, but it would appear now that's not the case--unless he came back to CON. Live and learn. This ship's list of people matches perfectly with what I had from census data--says Thomas Sr. was abroad for the 1871 census--must have come back for them. Good man! My computer says Thomas was my first cousin 4 times removed. Any kin there in NZ, or elsewhere, let me hear from you. Cheers! David Crocker davec1@redrose.net Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania USA
