Hello Lolly,
I looked up BAWDEN, Thos around 1868 and did not see likely candidates. Looked up BOWDEN, Thos (this in 1871 census at Kindred Konnections) and found:
Parish REDRUTH; District 10; Schedule 049

Position Marital
Name in Family Status Age
BOWDEN, THOS J Head M 40
BOWDEN, JAS H Son - 13
BOWDEN, JOHN Son - 11
BOWDEN, ELIZ Daughter - 6
BOWDEN, THOS C Son - 4

More info on above names:

Approximate
Birth
BOWDEN, THOS J ENGINEERS WI 1831 REDRUTH, Cornwall
BOWDEN, JAS H GROCERS LAB 1858 REDRUTH, Cornwall
BOWDEN, JOHN SCH 1860 REDRUTH, Cornwall
BOWDEN, ELIZ SCH 1865 REDRUTH, Cornwall
BOWDEN, THOS C SCH 1867 REDRUTH, Cornwall
Could the latter Thos be him. My BOWDEN in the US was BAWDEN in Camborne. If you want I can look on the 1881 census. Of course, NANCARROW is also a Cornish name. Cheers!
