I am looking for any information about the family or ancestry of Hiram Baur, a resident of Onondaga Co., NY in the 1840s and NYC in the 1850s. He married Maria Stroppel c. 1846 and they had at least three children, Charles, b. c. 1851, Carl, b. 1852 and Wilhelmina, . 1854.
During the Civil War he may have been in the Union Paymasters Corps, but according to family lore, under an assumed name of a name spelled differently. He may have died c. 1870.
Any help would be appreciated.
