"Vernon "Dots" V. Baumgard, 75, of Jordan, died Monday, Aug. 7, 2006 at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital, Minneapolis.

Born June 14, 1931 in Brewster, he was the son of Frederick and Helena Manken Baumgard. He married Gesina Klooster on Jan. 4, 1957 in Ellsworth.

He graduated from Faribault Area Vocational Technical Institute as a machinist. He entered the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany during the Korean War. He was a farmer in the Paynesville and Adrian areas, and later worked as a machinist for Continental Machines Inc., Savage.

Surviving are his wife; five children, Renee (Larry) Spangenberg, Laporte, Dean Baumgard, Lonsdale, Denise (fiance Tom Johnson) Baumgard, Shakopee, Randy (Marian) Baumgard, Jordan, and Gary (Kristin) Baumgard, Farmington; one brother, John (Marie) Baumgard, Fulda; two sisters (June (Dr. Car) Harberts, Emery, SD, and Norma (Duane) Defries, Rochester; eight grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.

The service was held at First Presbyterian Church, Belle Plaine. Burial was at the Oakwood Cemetery, Belle Plain."
