I am trying to find information on my gggrandparents. So far, I have discovered the following information:
Frederick R. "Fred" Baumann b. May, 1857, Switzerland
Marie/Maria (?) b. Dec. 1861, Switzerland
Children:
John Francis Baumann b. Feb. 9, 1886, Harvey Co., KS
Ernest W. Baumann b. June, 1887, Harvey Co., KS
Frederick "Freddy" Baumann b. Sep. 1888, Harvey Co., KS
Jacob "Jack" Baumann b. May 12, 1890, Harvey Co., KS
Elisabeth "Lizzie" Baumann b. Jan. 1892, Harvey Co., KS
Alfred William Baumann b. Apr. 25, 1894, Harvey Co., KS
Samuel Bernard "Sam" Baumann b. Nov. 1897, Harvey Co., KS
Frederick and Marie are listed as immigrants from Switzerland, arriving in New York in 1883. They were farmers and were settled in Kansas by 1885. Family stories say that Frederick was from a very wealthy Swiss family, but married a woman (Marie) that was in a much lower social class (probably a servant girl). His parents disappoved of his marriage, and as a result he and his wife came to America.
