John Dieter Bauman, the ancestor of this family in America, was a native of Germany, arrived at Phila, Oct 2, 1727. About 1755 he moved to Carbon Co, he died 1762, leaving a widow and children; Bernard, Herny, Mary and Sabila
Henry Bauman, s/o John Dieter and Eva Elisabeth, was born Sept 29, 1751, he died Nov 27, 1824, he married Catharine Dreisbach, who was born March 5, 1754 and died Aug 28, 1825. Children; John Dieter, Henry, Anna Mary and Susanna B.
Henry Bauman, son of Henry and CAtharine (Dreisbach) Bauman, settled at what was known as Hassertyville, where he died at aged 92. He married a Miss Kuntz and they had children; Daniel, Adam, William, Joseph, Sarah w/o Reuben Hagenbuch, of Lehighton, Susnana, w/o __ Berlin, Monroe Co, Mrs. Butler, Rachel, w/o Jonathan Haintz of E. Penn, Mary, w/o Aug Lehr, and Rebecca, w/o Dr. Yarrington of Easton.
Anna Mary Bauman was born Feb 4, 1776 and died March 28, 1864, she married Jacob Snyder, he died in 1813. Children, Daniel, Jacob, John, Stephen, Simon, and Solomon Snyder
Susanna B., Bauman was born Oct 27, 1768, died March 28, 1842. She married Christoper Kern and they had 9 children.
John Dieter Bauman, eldest son of Henry and Catharine (Dreisbach) was born about 1772. He died in 1853. He married on 17 May 1796 to Margaret Newhard, d/o Peter Newhard and his 2nd wife Catharine Miller. They had 12 children, all of whom married and attained mature years. Kate married Jonas Peter, of Heidelberg, Jacob, John, Susanna married Jonas Andreas, of E. Penn, Jonas, David, Sarah, married Daniel Keiper, of Allentown, Peter, Henry, Rebecca, Dennis and Josiah
Jacob Bowman, the son of John Dieter, was born March 28, 1799, in Towmamensing. He died Oct 17, 1877 and is buried at Snyder's Church. He married June 9, 1820 to Elisabeth Weiss, born Dec 5, 1808, d/o Thomas and Elizabeth (Solt) Weiss, and the granddaughter of Col. Jacob Weiss a soldier of the Rev. Mrs. Bowman died 1883. Childrn; 3 died in infancy, Amelia, w/o Cornelius Snyder, Eliza w/o John Seem, Sarah, w/o Judge Levi Wentz, Bishop Thomas Bowmam D.D>, James, Ellen, w/o Perry Wannamacher, and Wesley W. Bowman.
Bisho Thomas Bowman, s/o Jacob and Elisabeth (Weiss) Bowman was born in Lehigh twp, Northampton Co, May 28, 1836. He married April 26, 1856 to Diana Young, d/o Joseph and Rebecca (Wentz). They had 1 daughter, Tillie Louise.
Wesley W. Bowman, of Slatington, was born at Miliport, Carbon Co, April 7, 1849. He married June 15, 1871 to Zena F. Kuntz and they had children; Prof. Charles B., who married Lucretia Kuske and they lived in IL., and Raymond who married Miriam Breyfogel and they lived in Reading, Berks Co. to be continued.
