In Reply to: Bauman/Bowman in Dauphin Co., PA by Kim Bowman of 619

I descend from John William Bowman b.1842 in Cumberland Co.,PA to John Bowman b. 1918 and Catherine Longenecker b.1819 . His parents were married in 1838 and in 1848 John died leaving John William age 6 and bro. Benjamin age 4 who were taken in by Johns'parents (I believe) Christian and Mary Bowman of Dauphin County. Catherine kept her youngest son Christian and lived with her Bro. Jacob and parents Isaac Longenecker an wife Fanny. When Catherine died in 1856 the children remained with the same relatives. I was told that John and Catherine also had a daughter that died young, though I have not found evidence of her. In the 1860 census Benjamin was living with his uncle Christian and aunt Elizabeth in Dauphin Co. They are listed as being 38 and 32 years old and their children are: Henry 10, John 9, Mary 7, Susan 4, William 2 and Andrew 1 year old. Benjamin was 15 years old and listed as a Farmers Apprentice. I did not find Christian Bowman, Sr in the 1860 Census. Is this the same family that Kim and Nancy are talking aboout? I would like any info you may have.
