There is great difficulty in determining exact dates for immagrants during this time. Almost all of the records of those fleeing Europe during the reformation and the persecution which followed have all but disappeared. what information I do have is that Wendel moved from Thun Switzerland to Holland with his parent/parents when he was between 15-17yrs old. I have been unable to locate any records of the birth place of his son Christian and grandson Jacob. Given Jacob's date of birth, 1722 and the Adventurer's arrival in 1727, it would have made Jacob only 5 at the time. This is where the conflict begins; with Jacob's name appearing on the passanger's list it would have meant that he was at least 16yrs old (only adults where listed, heads of families and those over 16; 16 was the age set for signing the oath of abdoration and allegiance). It's a tough fact to reconcile. There was another Jacob Bowman which arrived on the Charming Nancy in 1929. Good luck.
