Hi,

I can't answer your question about Christian Baum specifically but I thought you might be interested in this information. My husband had a Baum ancestress, Susannah, who married a Christian Manenschmidt in PA. Their first child was probably born in Cumberland County, PA in 1775, then later they were in Westmoreland County, PA where my husband's ancestor Heinrich Manaschmidt (later Henry Moneysmith) was born. There is a note in my research (done by someone else) that there were many Baums buried in the Harrold's Zion Lutheran Church beginning with Peter Baum, born 1767, died 1838. Harrolds or Herolds was one of the first settlements in Westmoreland County, PA.

Apparently, Susannah Baum's parents were John Peter Baum and Catherine Scherr, but perhaps there is a connection between Susannah's father and your Christian Baum. Does any of this sound familiar to you?
