Hi Ann,

There are a couple of corrections and I wanted to give you some new info.

This was posted by a wonderful person today. Please let me know if it helps!

Baum-Charles (Carl Ludwig) to Charles William to Samuel born 1805........so much (mis)information on the web.
The WorldConnect project at RootsWeb.com is a great resource as is the similar data at Ancestry.com, but it drives me crazy that so many well intentioned cousins can post erroneous data, multiple times, and not feel any responsibility or inclination to correct it. I've tried emailng cousins information I believe is correct and encouraging them to check it against what they have posted. Some will agree what I sent them is correct, but say they are too busy or don't know how to make the corrections. This page is an attempt to simplify the depiction of my portion of a line that is indeed confusing, because of multiple Charles and Samuel Baum names. The Dr. Earl Baum document of the line included few dates so that fostered confusion as did Jr & Sr designations and I, II, III numbering.

I don't claim that this is error free, but I will change it WHEN ERRORS ARE IDENTIFIED. My goal is the accuracy of what's here, but certainly not to try and depict anything more than the siblings of ancestors to understand where each fits. I've used birth years to delineate individuals as I'm not interested in squabbles over specific dates in this project, because it is more about relationships.

I've shown my direct line below, without proof, based on what I know to be true and a consensus of the wonderful data at Rootsweb while disregarding data I "just know" is incorrect. Because so many of my ancestors had large families, I've limited my research to working backwards seeking ancestors rather than trying to collect the hundreds of cousins that are downstream. Thanks to the cousins that have helped me reach this understanding of which ancestor fits where and my hope is that other cousins will find this helpful and more importantly as reliable data.......that should be able to be confirmed, somehow.

The bold face Weaver names are descendants of Michael Weaver and Maria Spessard from Maryland who were also early settlers of Clermont Co OH where they met the Baums. Martin Pugh is my great grandfather and the reason I wanted the correct family information on the web. Samuel Baum and Sarah Weaver probably had two additional children who died young and are omitted here. What is important is that it was the Samuel Baum who was born in 1805 who accompanied Michael Weaver when they first came to Vermillion County, IL in 1828. That trip was the beginning of these families in IL. I'll leave it to someone else to work on IA, MO,KS & all the others states these Pennsylvania, then Ohio & Illinois Baums migrated.

This listing is as of 2/23/02 .
Please email corrections to mmmain@mac.com
If the correction is about a specific date, I'll drop the day if we can agree on the month and year. If we can only agree on the year, I'll drop the month and the day.
