The truth is that you may or may not descend from James Boughan of Essex County, Virginia. Your family actually descends from Tucker Baughan of Cumberland County, Virginia. DNA evidence proves that Tucker Baughan did not get his y-chromosome from any descendent of the Essex County Boughans. Recent DNA evidence proves that Tucker Baughan did share common genetic ancestry with certain Vaughan families in southside Virginia and Goochland County, Virginia.
