Try looking at James H. Boughan as the father. I suspect that "Hunter" was the middle name, and the first name was Henry. See 1880 census for Osage Co. MO, ED 212, p 18B. Henry H. Boughan. It would not be unlikely that the enumerator in 1870 misread his notes when entering data on the sheet and put 33 for 28.

H.H., son of James, was 17 in 1860. Henry H. of 1880 in MO was 38, and Emeline was 31.
