Joseph Baughn came to SC from Wales, (from Joe Baughn's letter). He is listed on the GA Tax Index in the Hudspeth District of Oglethorpe Co., GA in 1798. His son Peyton Baughn m. Nancy Hicks March 8, 1827 in Pike Co., GA. They are in Meriweather, GA 1840 census and Talladega, Co., AL in 1850. Peyton's Occupation is listed as a school teacher. They are in Winston Co., AL by 1860. When Peyton signed the Voting Registration Loyalty Oath in Winston Co., AL he gave his birth as June 17, 1804 in Oglethorpe Co., GA. Peyton was killed in March 1869. Nancy died 10 years later in 1879. They are buried in Ingle-Wakefield Cemetery, Winston Co., AL.

3. Louisa Annie Baughn b. July 16, 1829 in GA d. April 24, 1919 in Marion Co., AL, buried in Whitehouse Cemetery, Marion Co., AL
+ David Mitchell Kennedy Dec. 7, 1848 in Carroll Co., GA. He was b. abt. 1824 in GA , d. abt. 1864 in Natural Bridge, AL. I have been told he refused to fight in the Civil War. He was killed by the Home Guards. He is buried in O'Mary Cemetery, Winston Co., AL
4. Peyton Jasper Baughn b. abt. 1832 in GA. Joe Baughn's letter states he fought in the Civil War for the Union. He was never heard from again.
5. Fredrick Hicks Baughn b. Dec. 24, 1833 in Harris Co., GA d. Nov. 16,1916 in Winston Co., AL. Fredrick & Margaret are buried in Lynn- Baughn (Dodd) Cemetery, Winston Co., AL
+ Margaret (Peggy Holt) Aug. 16, 1856 in Winston Co., AL. She was b. Aug. 16, 1835 in Blount Co., AL d. June 14, 1925 in Winston Co., AL. She was the dau. of George Washington Holt and Caroline Morris.
6. John N. Baughn b. Sept. 9, 1838 in Pike Co.Ga d. April 26, 1891 In AL.
+ Rebecca Armstrong abt. 1858 b. Jan.Jan. 23, 1837 in AL d. Aug. 12, 1917 in Winston Co., AL. She was the dau. of James Stewart Armstrong and Mary (Polly) Holt.
John & Rebecca are buried in Ingle-Wakefield Cemetery, Winston Co., AL.
7. Martha Ann Baughn b. 1840 in GA d. unknown in WQinston Co., AL
