I am not an expert on this, but I think most will agree with me on this. It is not uncommon for names to have a letter mispelled, such as an "o" for an "a". Census takers of yesteryear did quite a lot of it. Many times names were spelled like it sounded to them, not the correct spelling. Some of our ancestors could not read or write, and didn't know how to spell their name. It could be that the person transfering the information, made a mistake.
