Following is a exert from a book entitled
Alphabetical Series of
NORMAN NAMES AND FAMILIES FROM THE LONDON
POST-OFFICE DIRECTORY.
this book was originally published London 1874 on page 152 it reads as follows.
BAUGH, or De Baa, from Bahais, near Coutances. Reginald De Ba gave lands to
Sempringham, Linc. (Mon. ii. 791)Gilbert De Baa to the Knights Hospitallers of the same co.(ii.536). In 1165 John de Baba, Gloucester, held one fee from Payn de Mundoubled (lib. Nig.) Sir Nicholas de Ba was M.P, for Gloucestershire, 1307 (PPW). Sir Walter de Baa was summond to attend a council at Westminster 1324 (PPW)..
This was first written up in our family history by my Great Uncle shortly after this book was published. I found this book in the Library at Calgary Alberta Canada two years ago but due to lack of time didnt get all the information re abreviations. My family history started in and around Onibury Salops and the family were known as Baugh, of Stone House Salop (Baugh of Aldon Court)
