Hi Bruce, I've read your interesting etymological discussion. Don't forget that German and its antecedents aren't all that far from the Celtic languages (they are related Indo-Europeans and neighbors after all) -- so "Bach," the original name of the German Baughs who are my kin, is yet another water word, "brook." Of course "Baugh" used to be pronounced the way "Bach" is today. Frank Deis
