Norse, vík = bay or creek >> Scottish Gaelic, ùig = nook or cove (small bay), and also English suffixes -wick and -wich

Note the precedence for use of the "v" and "w" above, which parallels the earlier reference to balla >> wall. The more and more words I come across for the related word set of bay/valley/cove/creek the more convinced I am correct in the derivation of the names Baugh/Waugh/Wauchope, which all appear basically to mean the same thing. If you look at some of the older spellings of Wauchope you can see many similarities with the various terms I have listed thus far as well.
