Last summer, a Baugh researcher (I think Schelle, who started this thread) sent me a copy of the Alamo file on John J. Baugh. It contains some printed brochures, including one called "The Story of The Alamo--Thirteen fateful days in 1836." The brochure is printed by the Daughters of the Republic of Texas, and includes a list of "Heroes of the Alamo." John J. Baugh of VA IS listed in the paper.
Also in the packet (all from the Alamo files) is a copy of a newspaper clipping, "Bowie Arraigned--Charges against the Texas hero unearthed--Occurred at the Alamo--Adj. Baugh's Report Tells Why Col. Travis Withdrew From the General Command." Another clipping, from the San Antonio Express-News, Jan 6, 1986, "Let's not forget last Alamo leader," is about "Maj. J.J. Baugh." There are also a couple of DAR papers mentioning him, and miscellaneous Baugh genealogical info from various sources.
So...either you talked to the wrong people at The Alamo, or they've seriously changed their tune on John J. Baugh since last summer.
