Hello Marietta. This is off the subject of books, but would you be so kind as to check the following?
William Ransom Baucom
+ Sally Barnes
Alvis Baucom 1833-1912
1st Julian Ann Josephine Long 4/4/1833-1863, d/o John Long, married 2/7/1854.
2nd Lydia Adeline Mullis, 1842-1912, married 3/23/1863. Lydia is the d/o Calvin Mullis, and his 1st wife, Temperance Rushing, (d/o John T. Rushing & his 1st wife, Katherine Tarlton. John T's 2nd wife was my widowed ggg-grandmother, Anna Mullis Purser). 2nd wife of Calvin Mullis was my widowed gg-grandmother, Frances Austin Pusser.
As you know, Anis Baucom married Madison Godwin on 5/25/1848. Madison was the son of Simon Godwin and Patience Ann Newsom. Patience Ann is a direct descendant of William Newsom Sr. who came to Surry County, VA in 1635 and settled there. Patience's line is from William's son, William Newsom, II. William II married Anne Sheppard Hart, widow of Thomas Hart. Anne was the d/o Robert Sheppard and Elizabeth Spencer. Elizabeth and her sister , Anne, were the only children of William Spencer and his wife, Alice, to live to adulthood. William Spencer was one of the original settlers of Jamestown, arriving with the first group in May of 1607, hence he is one of the "Ancient Planters". Thanks.
