in 1890 proving Joseph Warren Batts was 1/4 Choctaw.
His information:
Joseph Warren Batts married 1st Mary Ellen McCathern 11 Jan. 1877 in Shackeford County, Texas.
He was born 22 Sept 1853 In Limestone Co. Alabama died 06 May 1927 in Montague Co Texas buried on his own farm with a homemade tombstone
Mary was born 14 Sept 1857 in Van Zant County Texas. died
10 October 1888 in Stephens County Oklahoma buried in Cooper Cemetery.
Children:1st. Thomas Warren Batts b. 20 April 1879 in Shackford County Texas married Eula Ann White
2nd. Mary Ellen Batts b. 15 April 1881 in Shackleford Co. Tx
married J. R. Folson
3rd. Hettie Ann Batts born 25 Sept. 1882 in Albany Shackelford Co. Texas married David Sylvanus McDowell
05 Oct 1901 in Marlow, OK then Indian Territory
died 19 May 1954 in Canton OKlahoma
4th Delile M. Batts born `14 of June 1884 in Stephens Co.
Oklahoma died 08 Feb 1888 buried in Cooper Cemetery next to
her mother.
5th. John Earl Batts born 05 May 1886 in Shackleford Co. Tx
05 May 1886 died 09 Oct 1952 in Sweetwater Ok buried in Buffalo Cemetery. Married Mary Ella Dolins in 1912 in Oklahoma.
Joseph married 2nd to Josephine Blankenship and had more children. contact me if you need them.
All of the above information came from Hettie Ann Batts McDowell in 1953 and given to RBeda Lela Biggs who later married her grandson Winston E. Coffey.
Joseph's Grandfather was John Warren Batts who married 3 times
