My great great great grandfather was Benjamin C. Battle born August 2, 1822 in North Carolina. He was the illegitimate son of a Battle daughter from the Edgecombe Co. NC Battle's. The father was ? Threadgill(not sure of spelling) supposedly an Indian. Has anyone else ever heard this story? I found it in my great grandmothers bible recently and several of my great grandmothers sons have told me the same story. Any help would be appreciated
