African American Lewis Portis and Lucinda Battle

African American Lewis Porter and Lucinda Battle

We,looking for information on Lewis Porter (Portis) and his wife Lucinda Battle.

They are found in the 1870 and 1880 census in Walnut

Creek Township... Edgecombe county North Carolina

They are also found in the Cohabitation Records of 1865-1866 and are on the Kemp P. Battle Plantation.

There is also a Redin Portis and a Haywood Portis that are Lewis's brothers.

I would appreciate any information.
