The Battle family came to the US in 1650 and
came into the Chesapeake Bay and settled in VA but moved to eastern NC in 1700. A large group then moved to Ga and have moved all over the US since then. There is little info about them in Britain which gives rise to the speculation that it may be a French name that was anglicized...Battaile. The two brothers that came have MANY descendents all over the country but your best info is around Rocky Mounty, NC and in Edgecomb Co, NC. Hope this helps.
