I am also looking for a New York Battle (at times they have also spelled the name Battles) Family. This family emigrated from Ireland, possibly in 1831. They first went to Canada. By 1863, one son, William Battle(b. 1835-36 in Canada) had moved to Vermont. By 1865, his family was in Port Leyden, New York. In about 1872, they moved to Vernon Twp., Isabella Co., Michigan. An Anthony Battle, whom I believe to be a brother to William, stayed in Port Leyden. Anthony(b. July 1832 in Canada) left Canada in 1854. He was still living in Port Leyden, New York, in 1900. He and his wife, Tighe, had 8 children. I do not know what became of them, but all 8 were still living in 1900. Another possible brother, James(b. 1830-31 in Ireland)was living in Vernon Twp, Isabella Co., Michigan, next door to William, in 1881, with his wife and 6 children. The children's names and ages in 1881 were: Francis (16), Patrick (15), Catherine (13), Mary (9), James (7), and Ann (3). This family did not stay in Vernon Twp. and probably not even in Michigan. I do not know where they went. The name of James' wife was Julia, age 38 in 1881. Do any of these names fit with your Battle family?
