I got some more information from a McGaughey relative. I've heard that the Caroline Battey I'm looking for was born in 1824 in SC and died before 1870 in TX. She married Leroy G. McGaughey (b. 1812 in TN).

Carolina had a daughter Martha Emma McGaughey
Emma had a daughter Mattie Phil Park
Mattie had a son named Willard Farris
who is my grandfather.

I would love to find out more about Caroline and her family! Misty
