My GG Grandfather Tom Battye (b 1862)was a Blacksmith in Upperthong, Yorkshire His son Fred (1883 - 1952) followed in his fathers footsteps in Homfirth, Yorkshire. His son (my grandfather) Alfred (1902-1981) was the eldest of 7 children.
If anyone has connections in the Birstal, Heckmondwyke, Holmfirth, Batley area, I would be pleased to correspond.
