Has anybody in the endless searchs ever had any family legend of the original name being Barton. I have heard that but have no proof. Mourine gave me more than I had on my Battan great greats. I have found that most of the family went from PA -> Illinois and stayed there or were born there later. My Grandfather went west to WA. My great grand Battan married a Gruber and I can't find them either. In PA. Yikes. Brick walls abound.
