I'm new to this game and have just started researching my family. My Great-Grandfather is Isaac James Batten born around 1888 in Lugwardine, Herefordshire. I believe his father was Isaac Batten (from Wiltshire I think) and his mother was Emily Batten (nee Harris - again I think) and around 1919 she lived in Credenhill, Herefordshire. Isaac James Batten married Louise (surname Latimer I think & born in Dublin around 1898) and they had 4 children born in Tipperary - Florence & Horace John (my grandfather) 1919, Albert 1921 and Kathleen 1922. They emmigrated to Canada in 1923 aboard the Montclare (I have the passenger dockets) and following a short time livig with Louise's sister Kathleen Atkinson in Dundas, Ontario (during which time they had 2 further children Noreen and Billy) they settled in Kingston Ontario. My Grandfather, Horace John Batten, moved back to the UK during the 2nd world and settled in Birmingham. He died about 10 years ago. All of the rest of the family remained in Kingston. Do any of these names ring any bells to anybody ? Can anybody fill in any missing blanks or kick start me on the right path. thanks Richard Batten Notify Administrator about this message?
