My husbands grandfather was George W. Batey from Alabama, b. 1838. I have found his name spelled Beathy, Baty, Batey. So it is possible there may be a connection. Our George's father was born in SC, mother b. GA. George lived in Louisiana in 1870,lived in Texas in 1880. Died in Texas in 1905.
Wifes name: Mary Daniel, Catherine Stevens, possibly Caroline Gentry(not sure) Childrens name: John W., Charles, Levi, Steve, Jack, Wynn, Sam, Mattie. Any names sound familiar? Natt David & Beverly
