Hi Roger! A Bathgate cousin was telling me the other day that there are only 1300 Bathgate families in the US and Canada which does make things spread a bit thinner here. He also believes that there is a common ancestor for all the Bathgates.
Have you any idea how the surname Bathgate originated?
I am very glad to learn the names of my Grandma's grandparents. that means I can begin looking further back. I have heard that there is a Scottish name pattern, do you know of this?
I also have to look for my father's Robertson line and I was wondering if there is such a name pattern and if it would be helpful in searching for ancestors?
Thank you again.
