Ralph Clayton Batey, 72, of Huntsville, died Monday, Jan. 16, 2006, at Huntsville Hospital.
Services were Thursday, Jan. 19, at Adams Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Nixon Chapel Cemetery. The Rev. Greg Beasley officiated. His grandson, Staff Sergeant Robby Mays handled the military rites.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth Batey of Huntsville, formerly of Nixon Chapel; daughters, Rhonda Valdez of Texas, Kathy Ann (Albert) Braden of Hazel Green; sons, Tony Batey of Oklahoma, James Dorning of Huntsville, Bobby Dorning of Hanceville; brothers, Rand Batey of Russellville, Troy Batey of Russellville; sisters, Bernice Medley of Russellville and Terressa McCalister; 16 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Unie Batey and Hattie Mae Rainey; sisters, Betty and Louise Batey; and brother Herman Batey.
Pallbearers were Robby Mays, Tracy Mays, A. J. Mays, Greg Valdez, Donald Valdez and Al Braden.
