Thurmon Bates TX-AZ-CA (wife Ethel Lillian Billingsley) HELP NEEDED
An interview with Charles 'Oliver' Billingsley in 1952 indicated he had had two children: Ethel Lillian Billingsley and Benjamin Franklin Billingsley born in CA 1893, 1894. He had married Margaret Hessel about 1892 in Lordburg, NM but they were both working a cattle ranch in early Arizona Territory before they moved to California shortly after they married.
He said he had 6 grandchildren. Their names are:
Therma Margarett BATES b.14 June 1912 Phoenix, Maricopa Co AZ
Ruth Billingsley BATES b.1 May 1915Phoenix,Maricopa Co AZ (male)
Oliver Thurma BATES SR b.28 Oct 1922Phoenix, Maricopa Co AZ
Ethel Lillian BATES b. 1923Phoenix, Maricopa Co. AZ
Dorothy May BATES b. 1925 Phoenix, Maricopa Co AZ
Mildred BILLINGSLEY b. 11 June 1915 AZ (to Benjamin F Billingsley)
Then he said he had "20 great-grandchildren". My dilemma is that I've never been able to find out who ANY of those 20 great-grandchildren are or where they are located, nor who any of the above MARRIED. I would dearly love to find these 20 great-grandchildren as I am related. Anyone who can find a clue to help me out I would greatly appreciated. I have lots of information on their grandmother Margaret Hessel's family. Lots of very old photos.I descend from her sister Elizabeth who also worked on the cattle ranch with her as a young single girl. Both had left Grand Island, Hall Co. Nebraska where their parents and siblings lived. They 'took off' with their brother Joseph Hessel and all ended up working an early Arizona cattle ranch--and at the time were 2 of only 15 white women in the whole area. After he saw them both safely married, their brother Joseph Hessel moved to Oklahoma and worked another cattle ranch with his childhood friend John Windolph also from Grand Island, Hall Co. NE.
