I'm sorry, I goofed.trying to do too much off the top of my head.James T. is in fact a close relative. He was the son of Samuel G. Osborne, Sr., 23 years old in 1850. Sorry about that.
Phoebe Ellen was daughter of S.G. Osborne, Sr. So was Ann who married David galloway.
Rachel Frances Pitt, born 8 January, 1832, daughter of Davis Pitt first married a John Donohoe on 11 Mar, 1847.She filed for a divorce 9 Sep 1850.It was dismissed on 21 Jan 1851.A note scriblled indicates that the suit was dropped after the man had died. So, it appears she was already living separate from him in the 1850 census, and at least the census taker listed her as a Bates, and not Donohoe.
By the way, the records of my Great Uncle D. Carl Ross shows Hiram Walker Bates, not Henry??
Samuel Glenn Osborne, Sr children were:
William J. Osborne b 1825 in Va, marl. Mary Pitt in 1841
Ann Frances Osborne b. 5-31-1823 in Va. Mar David Galloway
James T. Osborne B 1827 in Va
Samuel G. Osborne, Jr B. in 1832 in Va
Virginia SUsan m. Zachariah Galloway
Phoebe Ellen m. H. Walker Bates
The children of Samuel Glenn Osborne, Jr. are:
Nelson Marion m. Anna Collier
Martha Ghee m. Bob Powers
Sallie Ann m. Crapie Boswell Travis
Bettie Jane, died at 16 months
Lucy Belle m. Alaska Ross (my great grandparents)
Rufus Glenn m. Allye Wright
Joseph Walter m. Rena Walden
Clinton Ervin m. Edith Ray.
It still appears to me that the other James Osborne was not closely related.Following is a couple of paragraphs that my great uncle put together pertaining to the other Osbornes in the Curdsville area.
'There were other Osbornes known to come to Daviess County, Ky. from Virginia, but it is not known whether or not they were any relations of ours. They probably were. Some of these other Osbornes who lived and died near Curdsville were well known by my grand parents, and lived close to them, but if related, we do not know how.One Jim Osborne, one Dabney Osborne, one Louisa Osborne, on 'Dickey' Richard Osborne. They came to Kentucky perhaps a little later than our Osbornes and Dabney is reported to have come from Henrico County. My own MOther and grandmother, Rachel, furnished me this information. Also others of their families.
Jim Buck Osborne married America Williams, a Ky. girl. His farm was where the Finis Osborne farm was located in Daviess County, 3 miles west of Curdsville. He is buried at Travis graveyard. His children were: Henry, Mary Ann, Emily, Martin, Larkin, Jim Buck (James Buchanan) Finis and Boyd.He was a brother of Dabney Osborne, Louisa Osborne and Richard "Dicky' Osborne.
Dabney was an old bachelor and they came from Virginia, his farm was close to Dicky Osbornes farm, near Travis graveyard.
Louisa Osborne married Henry Farmer, from Va.They all came to Ky. from Va. about the same time Samuel Glenn Osborne Sr. cam to Ky.Dicky's children were: John, Jim, Bettie, Bob, TOm.He is buried at Travis Graveyard.'
