Entry for Ann Bates in the 1891 census, has her in the West Bromwich Union. She is listed as a widow. Also her occupation is given as a shoe factory hand. Literally dozens of Ann Bates abound in England. Would like to try to find out if anyone knows of an early death of someone with a wife- Ann Bates. She would only be about 27 years of age at that time. (1891). Her son, Robert Bates, of whom, I have complete history, married Nellie Payton in 1919. Nellie's mother was Florence Payton, formerly Ward. Her father was Aaron Payton. Family history has it that Ann Bates may have gone to reside in Plymouth around the early nineteen hundreds. I would make an educated guess ,that Ann would possibly have married about the mid eighteen eighties. Notify Administrator about this message?
