Decatur County Journal-Iowa
Thursday, July 25, l9l8

MRS. C.D. EVANS was born in Van Buren County, Iowa, March 25, l866. At four years of age she moved with her parents to the vicinity of Van Wert, Iowa, which has been her home since, with the exception of short periods lived at other places.

She was married in l887, to C.D. EVANS, and to them were born five children; ROLAND, who died at the age of ten, a second child which died in infancy, RANDALL, who is serving in the United States Army in France, and ARLENA and LENORE, who are still at home.

MRS. EVANS had enjoyed the best of health all her life until last October, when she was attacked by neuritis. She was never well from the effects of this after it began, and it later developed into Sarcomba, which caused her death early in the morning of July l5, l9l8, at the age of 52 years, 3 months and 20 days.

MRS. EVANS suffered intensely during her last few days, and it was thought best to ease her pain by hypodermic treatments while under this influence and entirely unconscious, she passed away. The regret is felt by all of the friends and neighbors, and the sympathy of all is extended to the family, who so sorely miss the homemaker at a time when she was so much needed.

MRS. EVANS leaves her husband, C.D. EVANS, and three children, RANDALL, ARLENA and LENORE, besides those of the immediate family are her mother, MRS. C.L. EASTER, two brothers, BERT EASTER, of Norwalk, Iowa, and BENJAMIN EASTER, of Van Wert, and three sisters, MRS. EMMET BATES, of Indianola, Iowa, MRS. W.S. ARNOLD, of Ames, Iowa, and MRS. C.A. WALKER, of Van Wert, Iowa.

MRS. EVANS became identified with the Church of Christ some years ago, after giving herself to the Christian life. She was an earnest Christian woman, and MR. and MRS. EVANS have endeavored to bring their family in the way of the Great Teacher. Funeral services were held at the Christian Church, at Van Wert by Clarence R. Dayton.

*note: Mrs. C. D. Evans first name never mentioned in the article? *The word sarcomba probably should be sarcoma.
