Batchelder and the Gold Rush

In Reply to: seven sisters by Kathryn Bonnen of 893

My great-grandmother Carrie Maude Batchelder, who married Joseph Elmer Allen on 1 November 1892 in Essex, Massachusetts wore a gold nugget on a chain. I don't know if it was her father or her husband's father who went west to find it. She was one of seven sisters and two brothers all born in Boston (sisters names were Minnie, Carrie, Abby, Florence, Blanche, Edith and Hazel). I don't know any more about the story, but I can help you with the rest of the family tree! Carrie's parents were George Batchelder and Mary Katherine Emerson of Chichester, NH and Boston, and Joseph's parents were Joseph Gilman Allen and Sarah Burnham Mears of Essex, Essex County, Massachusetts. This Batchelder line goes back to the Reverend Stephen Batchelder of Hampton, New Hampshire.
