Perhaps this is the "Brother Basye" referred to in Diary of a Circuit Rider", the diary of Henry Howe, a preacher with the Disciples of Christ denomination in southeastern Wisconsin. He refers to him as living near Mineota on the way to Sugar Grove (on the way to Viroqua). This was May 11, 1864.
