Hi Claude-Leonard
I note your remarks on the Forum web site.
Are you aware that there is a Chateau L'Age Baston at La Rochefoucauld, Charente, France?
It was founded in 1309 (the name meaning 'built at the time of the Baston's) and is described as being full of charm and character, standing within its own 20 acres.
It is now used as a centre for watercolur and other types of painting.
My line is from the Bampton area of Oxfordshire and goes back to 1279 in a village called Ducklington.
Not French so far as we know at the moment, although there are many connections in the area with the Norman Conquest of England.
In France the name Baston was first recorded in Poitiers in Patitou with a Martin and Thomas Baston.
If I can help any more try me on [email protected]. The family web site is www.bastonfamily.cjb.net.
Cheers
Ron Baston
