I don't check Genforum all that often and haven't been on for sometime otherwise I would have contacted you sooner.
While I cannot help with the whereabouts of Charles Reuben Baster, I do have him in my Baster family. Very distant relation - however you might like to have the few details I have.
His father married twice.
I do not have Ann Stanbury (his mother) coming from Cambridge but from Holywell, Caernarvonshire, Wales. She, her husband and 1 year old Charles Reuben are on the 1881 Census which shows her birthplace. She died in 1889 aged 41 and her widower remarried another Ann (I do not have her surname nor the date of the marriage). Will of Ann Baster 1934 aged 87y, probate London 6 June to Charles William Moore, dockyard labourer (£273) I do not know who Charles William Moore was - perhaps the husband of one of Charles Reuben Baster's sisters.
Father Charles George Baster died 9 March 1905 at the Portsea Workhouse. Will of 1905, Portsea Workhouse aged 64y died 9/3/1905 to Ann Baster, widow.
I have not seen his will so do not know if he named any of his children or their spouses in his will. From the will details shown he may have left all to his wife.
You might like to get back to me on
[email protected]
I would be most interested in hearing more about his wife and family and descendants.
Best wishes
Jean
