I am glad to say that we do definately have a connection. I have quite alot of information now about the Bassford family which has been passed onto me by another relative researching the family whom I have made contact with. It would appear that your Edmund Bassford is a half brother of our Timothy Bassford who is the gggg grandfather of my husband Dave. Edmund and Timothy's father was William Bassford. William's first wife was Hannah whom he married c1754 and was mother of Timothy. Hannah was buried Saturday 3 January 1778 and on Saturday 11 April 1778 William married for the second time to Mary Ball at St Marys Hinckley. William was a framework knitter. Mary Ball was the mother of your Edmund. Altogether William Bassford had 9 children, 6 with his 1st wife and 3 with his 2nd. William's father was Daniel Bassford, a hosier, who married Elizabeth Green at St Marys Hinckley in 1729. Daniel's father was Samuel Bassford who married an Elizabeth. We have no record of Samuel's birth but we know that he was buried before 1721 and that his wife Elizabeth was born in 1665. Hope that this information is useful, any queries don't hesitate to get in touch.
