I've been searching until I am almost blind! I recall as a small child visiting an Aunt Hattie who was supposed to be related to my grandmother, Alice Basford Anderson. I can't find anything on my grandmother's family. She was born Alice Bas(s)ford August 9, 1886, place unknown, and lived most of her married life in Nebraska. She died October 25, 1961 in Gering, Nebraska. Gering is right next Scottsbluff. She married John Andrew Anderson (his mother was Emma Pershing) and had seven children named: Mae, Albert, Druzella (Connie), Barbara Josephine (Bobbi Jo), Carl, Martha Rachel and Irene. The story on Aunt Hattie is that she outlived several husbands. Alice had a step-sister named Ruth. They were tall, dark and heavy-set. I saw a picture of my g.grandfather and he looks like the Basfords in the English photos on line. Before Grandmother was married she was a school teacher and very prim and proper. Both my grandparents were well respected in their community. I have a photo of Aunt Hattie. I hope someone knows which branch my grandmother was from. I wish I had asked more questions when I lived with them. Other names connected with Basford are Heckman or Hellman and Nesbit.
