Hello. I have information on a Cornelius Bassett. The geneology I have on my family,
lists him as being in the Revolutionary War, as a Private, Captain Ebenezer Baker's Co., Col. Freeman's Regt. It states that he died oct.1, 1778. HIs daughter's name was Sarah, and she named her third child, who was born Oct. 6, 1779, after him. Her first child, William Bassett was born July 11, 1772. Her second son, Fortunatus II, was born June 30, 1775. Her husband's name was Fortunatus Bassett, which was her father's (Cornelius) first cousin (once removed). I don't know if this will help you or not. The family lines seem to stretch on and on. If this is the same Corneilus, I have more information on the Bassett family.
