Am not familiar with the line on which you're seeking information. The name Bassett was originally spelled with one "t" on the end AND as noted in your message, the name is sometimes spelled Baskett.

The following represents lineage of my Thomas Bassett [I]:

William Bassett b. England, killed in Virginia 1624 Indian Massacre. His son Thomas Bassett I came from England c 1635. [Notes not handy, but seem to recall he married Mary?] He claimed the Estate of William Bassett, York Co., VA. Children: William and Mary.

William Bassett b 1643 York Co., VA/d. 1724 Eltham, New Kent Co. VA married first Unknown spouse and second Anne ?

Children of William and Unknown Mrs. Bassett:
Thomas Bassett II b 1668, married Elinor, Elizabeth, Mary
Anne Bassett b 1669-1672 married Thomas Moore
Ursula Bassett b 1669-1672 died 1720
Mary Bassett b 1670-1673 married John Baughan

Children of William and Anne Bassett:
Anne Bassett b 1671-1674 married Charles Bostick
Elizabeth Bassett b 1672-1675 married John Howle
Frances Bassett b 1673-1676 married Robert Horsley d. 1733 Hanover Co., VA
John Bassett b. 1674

My line descends from Thomas Bassett II and Elinor through their son Thomas Bassett III b 12-10-1697 in Eltham, New Kent Co., VA. He married Lydia Howle 2-25-1718 in St. Peter's Parish, New Kent Co., VA. They migrated to St. Paul's Parish, [Richmond Co.,] Georgia near Augusta. His will is entered in the Probate Records of Richmond Co., GA in 1758. His son Thomas Bassett IV b 1737c in Virginia removed to what is present day Washington Co., AL sometime between 1760-1772 where he entered two British Crown Land Grants c1776; converted to Spanish Grants in 1783. He was murdered by Indians 1781-1782 at Bassett's Creek [named for him] returning home from a business trip to Pensacola, Territorial Capital of Spanish West Florida. His son Thomas Bassett V b. c1756-57 St. Paul's Parish, Richmond Co., GA married Sarah Cleveland who died in Washington Co., AL about 4/22/1841. Their children were Thomas Jefferson Bassett, Lucretia Bassett, Lucinda Bassett, Barbara Bassett, Mary Bassett and Francis S. Bassett.

My ggg-grandmother is Lucinda Bassett married John Richardson in Washington Co., Mississippi Territory in 1810. They had eight children, five of which were surving at the death of their father in 1864 and later at the time of the death of their mother Lucinda.
