It would be a coincidence if I descend from William Bassett and Abigail Bourne as Abigail is my cousin. My many great grandparent's were Elizabeth Bourne(Thomas, Bartholomew, John Bourne)who married Robert Waterman. Abigail's grandfather is Richard and my grandmother is Elizabeth, his sister. I also descend from 4 families who arrived on the Mayflower: John Alden, William, Mary and Priscilla Mullins, Richard and Elizabeth Warren and Elder William Brewster. None of these families are connected to my Bassett family that I know of..as this Mayflower ancestry comes from my grandmother Lydia Johnson who married Edward Monroe Heathington who does descend from the Bassetts. The Waterman's are the many great grandparent's of the Rev. Traitor General Benedict Arnold...and I claim him as my cousin as well.
